Gulab Jamun

Here is Gulab Jamun recipe and making

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of full-fat milk powder
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp of baking soda
  • 2 tbsp of ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/3 cup of whole milk
  • Oil or ghee, for frying
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp of rose water

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the milk powder, flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  2. Add the ghee and mix until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Gradually add the milk to the mixture, kneading it into a smooth dough. Add more milk if needed, but the dough should not be too sticky.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Heat the oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Once the oil is hot, reduce the heat to low, and add the balls to the oil. Fry them until they turn golden brown. Be sure to stir them occasionally to ensure even browning.
  7. Once done, remove the fried balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. In a separate saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  9. Reduce the heat and add the cardamom powder and rose water to the sugar syrup. Simmer for a few minutes until the syrup thickens.
  10. Add the fried balls to the sugar syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
  11. Serve the Gulab Jamuns hot or cold, as per your preference.
